Covid-19 Coronavirus Response Page

These pages give you further information on Swim Excellence lessons, including how Coronavirus may impact your swimming lessons, when lessons will restart, what changes will be put in place as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
IS IT SAFE TO RETURN TO SWIMMING?
Safety is our top priority for our swimmers, their families, our swimming teachers, coordinators and office staff. Our management team and many of our staff have children themselves and understand that parents want to ensure that activities are safe before their children return.

All of our pools that we teach in contain chlorine, as well as a chemical called bromine, many of our pools also use ultra violet light which zaps the bugs and viruses. These chemicals deactivate and remove the virus that causes Covid-19 so the risk of transmitting the virus while in the water is very, very low.

Strict policies and procedures have always been in place to ensure chemical levels within our swimming pools are at accepted levels, this is to ensure the safety as well as the comfort of our pool users.

Each pool environment will have been risk assessed from the car parking, reception areas, changing rooms, pool area and all adjoining areas and how we are going to keep areas and equipment clean, we will be publishing procedures before your lessons recommence. We are also rethinking the way we use equipment and the way you all interact with each other and your teachers. All of this will be explained in detail before lessons restart.

I AM A NEW CUSTOMER AND WOULD LIKE TO JOIN YOUR SWIMMING PROGRAMME ONCE LESSONS CAN RESTART?
We will be accepting new swimmers onto a swimming programme from September 2020. If you would like information about classes please email enquiries@swimexcellence.org stating who lessons would be for, their age, ability, your preferred venue and an email you would prefer us to contact you on. Our offices are closed right now, and our support functions will restart once we return to the water. Please bear with us and we will handle any enquiries when our full programme of lessons and office activities resume.
WHEN WILL SWIMMING LESSONS RESTART?
We anticipate our swimming lessons to resume from September 2020.

Some pool venues we rent pool space so we are guided by them, please bear with us whilst we work with our pool venue management regarding returning to the pool and setting a date to return.

Some venues may not be able to allow swimming lessons to restart straight away they may be later in the year or they may need to have a phased return, so please bear with us.

Once we have a date for your specific venue we will be in touch.

If you were in a class before lockdown you will automatically be given a place in lessons.

WHAT HAPPENS TO ANY LESSONS THAT WERE CANCELLED DUE TO THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN?
All remaining lessons from 19th March 2020 to the end of the current term have been cancelled. Credits for these lessons have been applied to each swimmers Swim Excellence account.

Credits can be redeemed against future lessons when they are back up and running and your new course has been applied.

If you have any further queries about your payment or your account balance, you will need to speak to our admin team. Our offices are closed right now, and our admin support will return once we return to the water. Please bear with us, and we will handle any queries when our full programme of lessons and office activities resume.

WHEN I RETURN TO SWIMMING LESSONS I WILL NEED TO CHANGE MY DAY OR TIME, WILL THIS BE POSSIBLE?
Once we set a date to return to lessons, swimmers will automatically be enrolled onto the new term and in their original class day and time, if this day or time is no longer suitable to you then please email our admin team and they will discuss with you alternatives.
I WILL BE UNABLE TO RETURN TO SWIMMING LESSONS ONCE THEY RESTART?
If you are not able to return to swimming lessons, please email our admin team with swimmers name, venue and a brief reason why you are not returning. Our offices are closed right now and our support function will restart once we return to the water. We will handle any queries when our full programme of lessons and office activities resume.
I AM WORRIED MY CHILD WILL HAVE LOST THEIR CONFIDENCE OR SKILLS IN THE WATER?
Please be assured, we know how long it has been since your child has been in a lesson, maybe even in the water, some swimmers will have been out the water for almost 6 months. A lot will have changed since their last lessons and we are mindful that some children adapt to changes better than others. Our swimmers safety is important, and so too is their enjoyment of their lessons.

We will be focusing on a reintroduction to the water for the first few lessons, assessing each individual’s levels of confidence. Our teachers are expecting a resettling period, our teachers and coordinators will support all of our swimmers through this, and we want to take the opportunity to get to know our teachers and classmates again. The first couple of lessons will concentrate on having fun and remembering everything we love about our Swim Excellence lessons and our enjoyment of the water.

We have plenty of experience helping children through the challenges and water wobbles and we will work with them and be on hand to give you advice and support where needed to help your children in their learn to swim journey.

WHAT CHANGES WILL BE MADE TO ENSURE A SAFE RETURN TO SWIMMING LESSONS?
Changes that are being made are based on comprehensive guidance issued by our governing body STA and Swim England.

Changes will relate to the venues we use, delivery of our lessons and how these will affect our customers.

As each venue will be different we will communicate with our customers in the run up to lessons restarting so that you can fully understand what changes have been made to your specific venue, and what they will mean for you.

We are focusing on making sure that our lessons can resume safely and that classes remain welcoming and a positive, enjoyable experience for all.
